Job Description

The Engineering team, organized by product groups, is responsible for the architecture, design,

development and operations of all systems and applications supporting Clients Retail footprint.

Accordingly, we have Merchandising and Inventory Management, Stores and Omni, Logistics, Data

and Analytics Platform, Ecommerce Engineering and Tools.

Client systems and applications supporting business functions are a combination of enterprise

solutions and custom software built to create a seamless experience for our customers, driven by

data assets and Infrastructure at its epicenter.

The Data and Analytics Engineering organization at Client is responsible for the technical delivery

of a highly scalable and performant enterprise data platform that supports our business operations,

finances, planning, forecasting and reporting.

The Senior Data Engineer, will split their responsibilities between planning and designing complex

development projects, working with stakeholders to ensure we meet the needs of our business

while staying in budget, mentoring and managing the work of the onshore and offshore teams, and

developing the roadmap for our future platform.

  • Job Responsibilities:
  •  Design and implement scalable data pipelines that can handle large volumes of data
  •  Develop and maintain processes for ingesting structured and unstructured data from various sources
  • Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to design, implement and communicate algorithms and logical and physical data models
  •  Design and develop data quality and validation checks to ensure the accuracy and
  • consistency of data
  •  Design and develop dashboards and reports to meet business needs based on developed
  • data model and semantic layer
  •  Work with DevOps and infrastructure teams to optimize data storage and processing infrastructure
  •  Works with the team to develop and implement plans for Data Management
  •  Ensure the security and compliance of data systems and processes
  •  Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior data engineers
  •  Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs. Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders and to handle functional and non-functional requirements.
  •  Develops road maps to communicate future development activity.
  •  Conduct and lead design and code reviews
  •  Assesses and analyses release components for input to release scheduling.
  •  Implements scalable and reliable automated tests and frameworks.
  •  Monitors and reports on the progress of development projects. Ensures projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods and tools and addresses
  • security and privacy requirements.
  •  Oversee/coordinate supporting technical work required with other Client IT teams, including infrastructure (e.g., network, DevOps) and upstream and downstream system
  • owners (warehouse management systems, order management systems, InfoSec, etc.)
  •  Partner with Client product owners to prioritize on business stories and to ensure technical execution risks & issues are captured and mitigated.
  •  Oversee the work of developers and QA team members to ensure that agile stories support the release plan defined by the product owner and are delivered with high quality.
  •  Accountable for the team's impact; guide and mentor the onsite/offshore team to achieve a high level of technical productivity and reliability.
  •  Participate in Agile rituals daily standups, iteration planning, story huddles, retrospectives, creation of burn up charts inceptions, document technical work in technical stories using
  • JIRA board, and estimate (using agile points/story sizing techniques) the work effort required to complete those stories.\

  • Qualifications:
  •  Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  •  10+ years leading an agile team of full stack engineers on design and solutioning in a multi- cloud hybrid ecosystem
  •  10+ years delivering solutions to complex business problems, collaborating with cross
  • functional teams including infrastructure, Infosec, compliance, product owners and engineering vendors
  •  Experience with Agile, Continuous Integration, TDD, Continuous Delivery, Pairing,
  • Automated Testing
  •  Good prioritization, negotiation, and communication skills
  •  Good knowledge of design patterns
  •  Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud
  •  Experience with Databricks preferred
  •  Experience with PowerBI or MicroStrategies required
  •  Retail / Ecommerce experience preferred
  •  Highest level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally manage confidential matters and exude the appropriate level of judgment and maturity
  •  Exceptionally self-motivated and directed
  •  Must be able to support on and offshore teams
  •  Dedication and commitment to top-quality service and to meeting customer expectations
